Interchange Rate Tables

Complete, searchable interchange rate tables for Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Find the exact rates that apply to your transactions.

What is interchange?

Interchange fees are the largest component of credit card processing costs—typically 1.5% to 3.5% of each transaction. These fees are set by card networks (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) and paid by merchants to card-issuing banks.

Rates vary by card type (rewards, corporate, debit), transaction method (card-present vs. online), merchant category, and more. Understanding these rates is key to optimizing your payment costs.

Interchange determines:

  • 1Base cost per transaction (before processor markup)
  • 2Why some cards cost more to accept than others
  • 3Potential savings from interchange optimization
