Glossary/Same-Day ACH

Same-Day ACH

ACH payments that settle within the same business day instead of 2-3 days.

What is Same-Day ACH?

Same-Day ACH is an enhancement to the ACH network allowing transactions to settle on the same business day they're submitted, rather than the traditional 2-3 day timeline. Same-Day ACH has multiple processing windows throughout the day with different cutoff times. It supports both credits and debits up to $1 million per transaction. The receiving bank must make funds available by end of day.

Why It Matters

Same-Day ACH bridges the gap between standard ACH and wire/RTP. It's faster than regular ACH but less expensive than wires. Use cases include same-day payroll corrections, urgent vendor payments, and account-to-account transfers where speed matters but wire costs don't make sense.
